AB InBev will buy the Ukrainian business Anadolu Efes in exchange for a Russian stake
The Turkish company Anadolu Efes and the Belgian Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev) have reached new agreements on a deal related to their assets in Russia. Under the terms of the agreement, Anadolu Efes will acquire AB InBev’s share in the Russian business, and AB InBev will receive Anadolu Efes’ share in the Ukrainian one. The implementation of the transaction depends on the fulfillment of a number of conditions and obtaining permits from regulatory authorities. Earlier in the summer of 2024, the government commission rejected the application for approval of the transaction, however, after receiving all necessary approvals, all shares of AB InBev Efes Russia will become the property of the Anadolu Efes subsidiary in Turkey. At this time, AB InBev Efes B.V. will continue to operate as usual.
AB InBev Efes owns 11 factories and three malt complexes in Russia. In 2023, the company’s revenue increased by 11.4%, reaching 108.6 billion rubles. Net profit increased from 12.3 billion rubles in 2022 to 16.7 billion rubles in 2023. In 2023, production amounted to 232 million decaliters of beer, as well as 5.3 million decaliters of kvass, cider and water.
