Beer production in Russia has grown to its highest since 2013, sales increased by 13% in six months

According to Rosstat, beer production in Russia in the first half of the year reached its maximum in eleven years. In the period from January to June, its output increased by 7.3% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 451.4 thousand decaliters. This is the highest figure since 2013, when 451.9 thousand decaliters were produced. In June of this year, beer production reached a record 88.2 thousand decaliters, which is 1.8% more than in May and 6.9% more than in June last year.
Beer demand in Russia increased by 13% in the first half of 2024, according to open data, which could be influenced by an abnormally hot summer and the whitewashing of the beer production market due to changes in the approach to fiscal policy. Today, beer accounts for 82.9% of sales in the alcohol market in the country. Sales of the drink in monetary terms increased by 12.8%, and in volume — by 4.8%. The growth of interest in this category can be explained by an increase in consumer activity, an expansion of the product range and a recovery in sales of imported beer. In addition, switching to other segments and popularization of the soft drink are noted.
