Duties on imported beer may increase

Russian brewers, faced with an increase in imports, appealed to the authorities with a request to increase import duties on beverages to €1 per liter in 2024. However, not all industry representatives support this initiative, as this may lead to an increase in prices for popular foreign varieties. Germany and the Czech Republic, from where a significant part of such drinks are imported, can respond to these measures by limiting the supply of hops, which is critically important for Russian producers.

A letter from the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation sent to brewing companies contains a request to assess the reasonableness of increasing duties on beer imported from the current €0.1 to €1 per liter in 2024 and to €1.5 per liter in 2025.
