Problems with non-payment of counterparties become the main concern of business in the third quarter of 2024

According to the results of a survey by the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP), almost 37% of the companies participating in the study reported problems with non-payments from counterparties in the third quarter of 2024. This figure was the highest in the last year, which highlights the aggravation of financial difficulties in the business. In the last quarter, only 22% of companies reported non-payments, and in 2023, this problem affected only 10% of respondents in the third quarter.

Experts say that one of the main reasons for the increase in non-payments is the high key rate, which limits business access to borrowed funds. In conditions of financial difficulties, companies are forced to accumulate debts to counterparties, which affects their payment discipline. This trend is especially noticeable among private companies that do not enjoy government support. Against the background of high rates, the business is faced with a shortage of working capital and deteriorating conditions for the supply of raw materials and components.

In addition, among other problems affecting the work of enterprises, difficulties with the import of equipment, instability of the foreign exchange market and difficulties with the transportation of products were noted. Respondents also expressed concern about rising prices and restrictions on international payments. Despite the fact that the sanctions have had little impact on the companies’ activities, problems with financial flows and infrastructure continue to be the focus of the Russian economy.
